THUNDER WELCOMES 2022 DRAFT CLASS

The Thunder emerged from the 2022 NBA Draft with a total of four new additions into the organization: Chet Holmgren, Ousmane Dieng, Jalen Williams and Jaylin Williams. The four new faces join a group of returning Thunder players who have carved out significant time learning, growing and developing together as a unit – even continuing that hard work and progression throughout the offseason.

THUNDER ‘MOVES THE NEEDLE FORWARD’ DURING SUMMER LEAGUE

The Thunder entered Summer League with a few very clear objectives to accomplish and they all centered around solidifying and honing its style of play: playing together; competing on both ends of the floor and playing with physicality on each possession. From its first game in Salt Lake City to its final game in Las Vegas, those objectives remained at the core of everything the Thunder did regardless of the opponent or who was in the lineup.

THUNDER'S 2021-22 SEASON 'A POSITIVE STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION'

At the start of the 2021-22 season, the Thunder opened the first week of training camp inside of its old practice facility. With a team full of new faces and a blank slate opportunity ahead of them, the two-a-day practices were designed to set a solid foundation for the group to build on while also reconnecting to its core organizational values.

Six months later, having logged 82 games worth of experiences and lessons, the Thunder convened as a group one last time before the offseason – this time to reflect on how they built on that foundation.

GET TO KNOW AARON WIGGINS

Aaron Wiggins took a deep breath, looked at his phone, pressed record and let out an emphatic, “AAAHHHH!”

It startled everyone in the room.

It was just moments after his name had been called as the 55th pick of the NBA Draft and Wiggins was with his family in his home state of North Carolina watching the event unfold. Admittedly, when the selections reached the 50’s Wiggins began to feel the nerves of the unknown. So, when he finally heard the Oklahoma City Thunder picked him up late in the second round, the excitement overcame him to the point where the 22-year-old posted a raucous, wordless video of him shouting into the camera with a brand-new Thunder hat atop his head.

WHO IS LU?

Only a year prior to scoring his first career NBA points, the Lu Dort spent a year at Arizona State putting up big-time numbers as a freshman with 53 points in his first two games as a Sun Devil.
